Greater London is an administrative area in England, governed by the Greater London Authority. It is comprised of 33 local government districts: 32 London boroughs and the City of London. Greater London was formed in 1965 as a sui generis council area under the Greater London Council on 1 April 1965. The GLC was later abolished in 1986, and the area was established as a government office called London. The Greater London Authority was formed in 2000.
